Server Benefits

Deja Technologies Inc. recommends meeting in person to discuss the benefits of Microsoft Server 2008 including Microsoft Exchange Server.  Our goal is to provide confidence in the safety and security of small and medium businesses network and data, as well as having access to their data whenever and wherever they need it.  We can make this all possible by introducing the ability to take the entire office offsite at the end of day using a removable hard drive backup solution. In this introduction we will cover many details regarding key Server benefits and why our existing clients (and suppliers) trust Deja Technologies Inc. for Server configuration and remote support.

There are many reasons we install Servers for our clients, the main points are listed below.
With your Server controlling your entire network and user capabilities, a large amount of time is taken to configure the Server properly.

Exchange - This application allows for a professional configuration of Outlook by handling all of the calendar items, contacts, tasks and emails.  Since the Server serves all of the data to the systems on the network you will never lose any important information.  All of your Outlook details on each station would be available from any web browser in the world.  We can also offer your laptop or home PC full connectivity to your Outlook application versus the web.  Refer to the screen shot below for a view of Outlook Web Access.

Shadow Copy – Shadow Copy is a great feature which can be configured in SBS 2008 to meet your business requirements.  Shadow Copy takes a snap shot of your data at preset times during the workday. You can then easily go back in time and retrieve corrupted, miss-saved or deleted files in half day segments for a period of time (depending on allocated resources).  Shadow Copy in SBS 2008 has saved our clients a lot of time and energy from the mistakes that have happened, whether it is user or application data, we can get it back.

Offline Files –  Laptops that come and go from the office will be configured to automatically synchronize with the Server in the office.  This means that any new or updated files under “My Documents” or the “Desktop” will be backed up to the Server.

Remote Access – A secure and easy to use web portal allows you to log into your systems in the office from anywhere at any time.  Just because you can’t make it to the office doesn’t mean you can’t get your work done.  This leads to greater efficiency and work-life balance.

VPN (Virtual Private Network) – VPN connections use encryption to transfer data from a remote system to the Server in the office.  Whether it’s a system at home or 10 systems at a remote site, VPN extends the private SBS network allowing access to company resources on the Server.

Active Directory – With information and settings in a central database Active Directory allows for scaling up or down quite easily.  Active Directory will be configured to control the user login credentials, access rights to directories, login times and general access.  This allows users to log into other systems to access email and documents with ease in case of a computer crash.  Active Directory allows us to help you control your network and user accessibility based on your business requirements.

Folder Redirection – All computers will have folder redirection configured to ensure that all local files (My Documents, Desktop) are automatically saved to the Server.  This feature provides full data protection for all users in the event of theft or hardware malfunction.

Smart Phones – Android, iPhone or Blackberry – By leveraging Exchange ActiveSync or Blackberry Enterprise Server Express, we can have your Smart Phone fully configured for real time synchronization (email, calendar, contacts) to ensure that you always stay connected while on the go!

Removable Hard Drive Backup and Internal Raid – Using Deja’s Backup Solution you will have three internal hard drives running in RAID 5 for speed and redundancy to protect your data.  This means that if one hard drive fails we just swap in a new one with zero down time.  You will also have at least two hard drives in special enclosures that you can easily rotate on a daily basis.  These hard drives can be removed from the office and placed in a secure location to ensure that your companies’ vital data is elsewhere in case of fire, theft or accidental deletion.  Click here to view PDF
